TCU Shines at Jack Kramer Invitational

FORT WORTH, Texas – The doubles tandem of Millie Nichols and Seda Arantekin, along with Stefanie Tan won the Jack Kramer Invitational doubles and singles brackets, respectively, in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., this weekend.
After earning a bye in the first round of the doubles bracket, the TCU duo defeated Ale Granillo and Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai of Pepperdine 8-4 in the round of 16, before taking down Ellie Yates and Gabby Desimone of USC 8-4 and Miho Kowase and Gabby DeSantis of Ohio State 8-6 to make it to the finals.
In the finals, Arantekin and Nichols easily defeated Noelle Malley and Ferry Angeles Paz of Ohio State 8-1 to take the tournament title.
Tan found her own success at the tournament by winning the singles bracket. Tan, ranked No. 1 in the bracket, brought down Ohio State’s Malley 6-0, 6-0, before beating Ellie Yates of USC 6-2, 6-0.
Tan faced her toughest competition in the quarterfinals against Big 12 foe Victoria Kisialeva of Baylor. In the four-hour match, Tan emerged victorious with a 0-6, 7-6, 7-6 win. Tan found an easy win into the finals by defeating Yuki Chiang of Pepperdine, before taking a 6-4, 6-2 win over Georgiana Patrasc of Mississippi State to win the title.
With the conclusion of competition at the invitational, TCU has now completed its fall season. The Horned Frogs will open their spring slate by hosting Syracuse and UT-Arlington on Saturday, Jan. 18.
