HOUSTON - Katie Lybbert wrapped up her TCU career at the NCAA Zone `D' Diving Championships Wednesday at the CRWC at the University of Houston. The senior finished 24th on platform with a score of 179.30.
Lybbert's challenge was not her scores as much as it was degree of difficulty as low starting points made it tougher for her to move up the standings without being near perfect. In her first four dives, Lybbert only had one score over 40 points, a 40.95 on her forward 1 ½ somersault 1 twist free of the 7.5-meter platform.
What Lybbert can take from the performance is that she finished on a high-note with her final dive, an inward 1 ½ somersault off the 5-meter platform scoring her 48.40 points. All five judges gave her a score of at least 7.0.
Lybbert has been a valuable diver at TCU after transferring in prior to her sophomore season. This season marked the second time she had made a trip to the NCAA Zone Diving Championships. She has been the team's highest scorer on all three boards each of the last two seasons. Lybbert earned All-Mountain West on 1-meter as a sophomore.
The TCU swimming and diving season has ended.
