Who we are
The TCU cheer program has been around for several decades and it has grown and changed with the times. Today, the cheer program consists of a co-ed and an all-girl cheer team. The co-ed team consists of 7 couples and the all-girl team consists of 20 female athletes. Both teams cheer for home football games, men's and women's home basketball games and home volleyball games. The teams take turns traveling with the football team and cheering at away games and tournaments with the basketball team. The cheerleaders also facilitate pep rallies and special appearances and participate in community service activities.
The TCU cheer program selects a competitive team to represent the university at NCA nationals each spring. The program's attendance is dependent upon budget restraints and is not consistent from year to year.
Why cheer at TCU?
The TCU Horned Frogs are a nationally-ranked, Division 1-A college football team. The University is a large university with a small college feel. It is a liberal arts-focused school whose mission is "To educate individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community." Where else can you find the unique combination of top-ranked athletics and academics and still be treated personally?
Our cheerleaders benefit from top-notch athletic facilities. The recently constructed indoor practice facility has enhanced our practice area. Our athletes have access to tutoring and counseling if needed and have access to some of the best academic facilities in the country.
Our cheerleaders are a diverse group that travel here from as far as California and some call Fort Worth their home town.
We look forward to some exciting opponents in football this year!

What does it take to be a TCU cheerleader? Tryout Info for 2008-2009 |Cheer Application
Genuine spirit! It sounds cliche but we are game day cheerleaders first. Our job is to increase the spirit at TCU athletic functions. We are looking for a total package. So, in addition to the required skills (which you can see on the Tryout Info link), you must display the proper attitude and desire to cheer. And you must be able to keep your grades up - after all, a good education is why you're here in the first place. We require a 2.0 GPA. Proof of this must be submitted with the tryout packet. We want the die-hard Frog fan who will cheer his or her heart out in the rain when the fans have gone home and we're behind 30 points. Do you think you have what it takes?

Helpful information for visiting Spirit Squads
If you are playing TCU and are bringing a spirit squad, here are some helpful hints for you. Parking around Amon Carter Stadium is difficult. Click here to view a campus map and links to game day parking. You may cheer in the Northeast corner of the stadium in front of your fans. If you need to use a restroom or change, head into the Daniel Meyer Coliseum via the tunnel entrance off the South endzone. There are restrooms to the left.
Alumni
Each year at Homecoming, the alumni cheerleaders are invited back on the field to cheer for the Frogs again. Please contact Dale Young for details. If you have a photo from when you cheered here, please submit it to Lindsay Shoulders via email and we'll post it on this page.
Congratulations to TCU Cheer and their awards from NCA camp
The cheerleaders represented the school well at NCA camp in July. They received blue, superior ribbons for final evaluations, a spirit stick, 3rd place in the spirit routine competition and an invitation to compete at the national championship. All four cheerleaders who were nominated were selected to be All-American cheerleaders (a top honor at camp). Congrats to Catherine Butterworth, Leslie Dyer, Jessica McNeil and Lauren Wottlin!
