Oct. 11, 2005
Before heading to Las Vegas and San Diego this weekend for conference play on the road, the TCU volleyball team will host Wyoming Tuesday night at the University Rec Center. The Frogs will go for their second win in conference play.
Freshman Nirelle Hampton led the Frogs last Friday as she turned in her first career triple-double and she is the first Mountain West Conference player to do so this season. The Gainesville, Fla., native tallied 41 assists, 15 digs and 11 kills as TCU downed Air Force in four games. She followed her triple-double performance by totaling 53 assists and nine digs in a valiant comeback effort that fell three points short versus New Mexico.
Wyoming comes into the match with a 0-5 record in conference play. The Cowgirls are led by Rachel Smith who posted a double-double on Friday versus Utah with 14 kills and 14 digs. Lauren Scott and Andrea Seele also scored double-digit kills with 10 a piece. The team suffered a 3-0 setback to No. 16 BYU the following evening.
TCU is 0-5 all-time versus Wyoming in a series that dates back to 1998. This meeting will be the first time the teams meet with Prentice Lewis as the head coach for the Frogs.
The Horned Frogs are currently 11-7 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. Match time for the contest is slated for 7 p.m.
