Igodan Leads Team White to Scrimmage Win

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team competed in its first scrimmage of the 2013 season with Team White taking a 3-1 (21-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-23) win over Team Purple Saturday night at the University Recreation Center.
Team White had three players in double figures, with senior All-Big 12 Preseason Team member Yvonne Igodan leading the way with 18 kills and only two errors for a .457 hitting percentage. Macy Capen recorded a double-double of 14 kills and 11 digs, while also serving up a team-leading four service aces. Stephanie Holland rounded out the trio with 15 kills, while Shane Peters made her TCU debut by recording 17 digs and two service aces.
Alexia Heist saw action on both teams and finished with a double-double of 28 assists and 10 digs, while also recording three service aces. Trisha Langley and Fleming Smurthwaite also split time between the two teams, with Langley recording 22 assists and Smurthwaite finishing with 15 assists.
The Horned Frogs will compete next in the Alumni Match on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m., in the URC. This is the final preseason scrimmage for TCU with admission free to fans.
The Frogs open their regular season on Friday, Aug. 30 at the Georgia Bulldog Invitational. TCU will take on Furman in their first match of the tournament, with first serve set for 3 p.m., in Athens, Ga.
