TCU Earns 41 Fall Academic All-MW Selections Two Frog student athletes tallied a 4.0 grade point average

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – TCU landed 41-student athletes on the Fall 2011 Academic All-Mountain West Team, the league office announced Thursday.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team. Fall sports include men’s and women’s cross country, football, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball.
The Horned Frog women’s soccer team racked up 15 of TCU’s 41 selections, while the cross country program garnered fourteen (six men, eight women) honorees. Sixteen TCU student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher, including two who tallied a 4.0 mark.
Football had seven student-athletes honored, including two who have already earned their undergraduate degrees, while the volleyball team picked up five selections.
TCU had at least 40 selections for the fourth time in the past five fall seasons. After the fall of 2008, TCU placed 45 students, its highest number for a fall, on the Academic All-Mountain West Team.
