Frogs fall in three to No. 20 BYU

The TCU volleyball team fell to No. 20 BYU in three games (13-30, 24-30, 27-30) in front of 1,349 fans at the Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah. Junior Anna Vaughn led the Frogs with 10 kills and sophomore Talaya Whitfield finished with 10 kills. BYU dominated in game one hitting .478 with 13 kills to just six for TCU. Erica Lott led the attack for the Cougars with four kills and hit .667. TCU's Nirelle Hampton and Whitfield combined for four kills. Game two was closer as the Frogs battled to even the match. Vaughn got going in the game, smashing five balls to the court. The Frogs were able move within three, but the Cougars pulled away to take game 30-24. Erica Lott led all players through two games with 11 kills. Refusing to give the game to the No. 20 ranked Cougars, the young Frogs battled tough in game three with Vaughn and Whitfield doing the damage. TCU fell to 28-20 deficit, but again the young Frogs continued to battle before falling 30-27. Vaughn led the Frogs with 12 kills and Whitfield tallied 10. With the loss, TCU fell to 10-5 on the season. The team will travel to Salt Lake City tomorrow to take on Utah. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. (MDT)
