STORRS, Conn. - The TCU volleyball team made it two wins in a row with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-21) victory over Long Island Saturday morning at the UConn Toyota Classic. For the second straight match, Kourtney Edwards paced the Frogs with 12 kills. Katelyn Blackwood finished with a match-high 11 digs.

Edwards and Kristen Hester finished the match with four blocks each to lead a Frog defense that produced eight total blocks in the match. Megan Munce tallied 31 assists and tallied two service aces.

In the first set, the teams battled to a 6-6 tie before a 6-0 run by the Frogs broke things open. Kristin Hester and Christy Hudson teamed on a block to break the tie. Sloane Sunstrum and Hudson pitched in with a kill each and Irene Hester dropped in an ace to give the Frogs a 12-6 advantage.

The set settled into a rhythm before Kristen Hester spurred another 3-0 run with back-to-back kills to give the Frogs a 22-12 lead. A blast from Munce gave the Frogs set point and Edwards locked up the 25-15 victory with her third kill of the match.

Edwards got the Frogs rolling in the second set with back-to-back kills and TCU never looked back en route to the 25-18 victory. Leading 6-5, Edwards launched a 3-0 run with a cross court blast. Meghan Horio served up an ace for the 9-5 lead.

After the Lions had pulled within two at 14-12, Kristen Hester came up with a kill in the middle that propelled the Frogs into a 6-1 run that put TCU on top 20-13. Along the way, Kylie Pont blasted a kill in the middle and Edwards put down two more to force a timeout.

TCU withstood a 4-1 run by the Lions and answered with a 3-0 run of its own that gave them set point. A solo block in the middle from Kristen Hester gave the Frogs set point and a Lion service error locked up the 2-0 match lead.

A dogfight in the third set saw neither team make a run. The set saw 12 ties and three lead changes. Trailing 8-5, the Frogs got back-to-back blocks from Kristen Hester and Sunstrum and Edwards and Pont to pull back within one and Edwards tied the set with a blast down the middle.

A Pont kill helped the Frogs start a 3-0 run that was capped by a Munce kill, giving them an 11-9 lead. Long Island would tie the match at 11 and from there a back-and-fort battle ensued.

Tied at 17, a Long Island service error put the Frogs on top and Edwards gave the Frogs a two point lead with another kill. Back-to-back kills from Irene Hester and Munce pushed the lead to three. A Munce ace gave the Frogs match point and Christy Hudson finished things with a cross court blast for the 25-21 win.

TCU (4-2) returns to the court Saturday night at 6:30 (CST) against the host, UConn. The Frogs will be playing for the UConn Toyota Classic championship.
