FORT WORTH, Texas - An exhilarating match at the University Rec Center saw the TCU Horned Frogs come away with a 3-1 (30-27, 22-30, 30-27, 30-27) victory over UT-Arlington Wednesday night. A record attendance of 930 saw the Frogs extend their winning streak to four matches with the win. Numerous Frogs established career-highs in the match, including Lauren Otto. She collected 22 kills and posted her fifth double-double of the season with 17 digs. Christy Hudson also set a new career standard with 10 kills.

"I am really proud of the way our entire team played," said Head Coach Prentice Lewis. "We fought for every point, even at times when we weren't playing well."

Game one went down to the wire as both teams matched each other play for play. UTA grabbed the early advantage and held it most of the match. TCU was able to keep the game close, eventually knotting things at 19 on a Loren Barry service ace. A Maverick attack error gave the Frogs the lead.

The see-saw battle ensued with the lead never getting any larger than two. With the score tied at 27, the Frogs rolled off three points to earn the game one victory. Kills from LeMeita Smith and Kourtney Edwards brought the game to set point. Edwards and Smith put the nail in the coffin with a loud block on an attack by Ellen Murray giving TCU the 30-27 victory.

The Mavericks ran away with game two as they lead from the first point. TCU found itself in a 17-9 hole and could never recover. The Frogs attempted to climb back into the match, pulling within seven, 23-17, but a solo block from Emily Nedderman pushed the advantage back to seven. A Teena Sobczak ace sealed the 30-22 UTA win in game two.

Out of the intermission, the Frogs stormed out to a 6-1 lead behind the serving of Barry. Kills from Smith and Edwards spurred the Frogs as they continued to build on their lead. TCU was able to withstand a Maverick rally as it clung to its lead. UTA would eventually knot things at 16, but Hudson had an answer with some powerful kills. Her blasts kept the Frogs in control.

The Mavericks took a brief lead at 23-22, prompting a TCU timeout. An Otto blast off the block tied the game and an attack error by the Mavericks gave TCU a lead it wouldn't relinquish. Three straight kills from Hudson pushed the lead to 27-24. A Smith kill gave the Frogs match point and Edwards nailed the 30-27 win with a kill straight down the middle.

Another tight affair in game four greeted both teams. The Mavericks looked to be in control as they took a 17-13 lead. Each time the Frogs looked like they were going to rally, UTA came up with a big play. Back-to-back Maverick service errors allowed the Frogs to close within two, 21-19.

TCU knotted the game at 24 on an Edwards kill and a Hudson/Otto denial on the outside gave TCU the lead. With Calli Corley behind the service line, the Frogs went on a 5-0 run. Hampton, Otto and Hudson drilled the ball all over the court as TCU built a 27-24 advantage. Otto's 22nd kill of the night gave TCU the 30-27 game four win.

Two other Frogs tallied doubles-doubles in the match along with Otto. Barry notched her first with 10 assists and 14 digs. Hampton tallied her second of the season with 57 assists and 10 digs. Edwards pitched in with 18 kills, while Smith tacked on 19 of her own.

The Frogs improve to 6-1 on the season. They will remain home to host the TCU Molten/LaQuinta Invitational Friday and Saturday. The five-team tournament gets under way at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the University Rec Center.
