Day Two action comes to a close at the Wilson/ITA Regional Championships
Oct. 20, 2006 FORT WORTH, Texas - The women's singles main draw got underway on Friday morning at the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional, hosted by TCU. The main draw picked up eight players that advanced through the singles qualifiers, which included: Idaline Franca (North Texas), Carmen Abeaboeru (Texas A&M-CC), Tiffany Tucker (LSU), Vicky Simpson (Houston), Bonnie Phillips (SELU), Weronika Blocynska (UTEP), Megan Schumulbach (North Texas) and Angela Dangond (Lousiana-Lafayette). In singles main draw play, top seeds one through five all advanced to the round of 32. These seeds include: No. 1 Zuzana Cerna (Baylor), No. 2 Anna Lubinsky (Texas A&M), No. 3 Breda Kovac (Southeastern Lousiana), No. 4 Petra Dizdar (Texas) and No. 5 Anna Sydorska (TCU). In the doubles main draw, seeds one through four all advanced to the round of 16, while the No. 5 ranked duo of Jessica Zok and Klara Zrustova (Baylor) was upset in the round of 32 by Anna Blagodarova and Marisa Druss of Texas A&M. Fourteen men's tennis teams will start action on Saturday morning at 8:30 in the singles main draw. The men will kick off the doubles main draw at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
