FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior Paty Aburto, ranked No. 72 in the preseason ITA poll, defeated 73rd-ranked Lara Ercegovic of Temple, 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 on Tuesday in the qualifying draw of the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

Aburto advanced to the second round where she met fourth-seeded and 28th-ranked Julie DeRoo of Duke. DeRoo captured the straight-set win by a score of 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles action, fifth-seeded Aburto and partner senior Rosa Perez took on Millie Begovic and Robin Stephenson of Alabama in the first round of qualifying play. The 16th-ranked TCU duo fell 8-4 to the No. 39 pair of Begovic and Stephenson.

The Frogs will be at home Oct. 18-21 when they host the 2002 Omni Hotels Southwest Regional Championships at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
