FORT WORTH, Texas - Dave Borelli has been hired as the TCU women's tennis head coach it was announced on Wednesday by Athletics Director Eric Hyman. Borelli, a former women's head coach at the University of Southern California, led seven squads to national championships during his tenure.

Borelli takes over the TCU women's tennis program following the retirement of long-time coach Roland Ingram. The Frogs finished the 2002 season with a 21-5 mark, capturing the C-USA Conference title and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Regionals.

"TCU is excited to be able to attract somebody of Dave's caliber," said Hyman. "He is a proven winner on the collegiate level with women's tennis, having won seven national championships at USC. With all the excitement surrounding our tennis program, the new tennis facilities and the addition of Coach Borelli, the future could not look any brighter."

"The last few years I've been looking for an opportunity to coach in a situation where I could grow," said Borelli. "I've had lots of great opportunities in the past, but I think that TCU is the ultimate coaching situation for me. I'm so impressed with the quality of people in the department."

Borelli has coached collegiate, professional, club and camp tennis throughout his career. He spent 14 seasons at USC where his teams earned seven national titles, three runner-up finishes and 10 conference championships. He coached five individual players to national singles titles and two doubles teams to championships as well. He posted an incredible 300-45 dual win-loss mark (.870 winning percentage) during his time at USC. Over an eight year period, his teams won 88 straight matches at home.

Most recently he has served as the Men's Professional Tour Coach for the USTA where he coached seven-man teams in the Rookie Pro program. During that time, he coached 11 players who were in the top 250 ATP rankings, two NCAA singles champions, and two others who were ranked in the World ITF Junior top 10.

For two summers, Borelli served as the head coach for the Sacramento Capitals, a professional tennis team. He has also been a tennis pro at a Fresno, Calif. country club and was a private tour pro coach for four years after he left collegiate coaching.

A graduate of Southern California, Borelli was a four-year varsity member of the USC men's tennis team. In 1981, he was named the NCAA National Collegiate Coach of the Year. He has served as chair of the National Collegiate Tennis Coaches Committee, Western Collegiate Athletic Association, PAC-10 Coaches Committee, and on the board of directors for the Central California Tennis Association.
