Five Frogs To Compete In Fort Worth Pro Tennis Classic
June 10, 2005 Fort Worth, Texas - Five members of the TCU women's tennis team will compete in the Baylor Medical Center at Southwest Fort Worth Pro Tennis Classic on June 12-19 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. Story Tweedie-Yates, Nicole Leimbach and Kewa Nichols will all be in the singles main draw, while Gloriann Lopez and Andrea Morgado will pair up in the doubles main draw. "I am really excited to have this many of my players competing in this professional event," said Head Coach Dave Borelli. "When I came here, one of my goals was to get players that wanted to compete not only on the collegiate level, but professionally. These kids all have the attitude of wanting to continue to improve and this will help them step up their game for next season." Tweedie-Yates and Leimbach were selected to the main draw based on their current world ranking on the WTA Tour. Tweedie-Yates, who last season was only the second player in TCU history to earn All-America honors in both singles and doubles, enters the draw with a No. 654 ranking. Leimbach, who will transfer to TCU from Southern California next season, is ranked No. 618. She was an All-American in singles and ended this season ranked No. 8 in the NCAA. Nichols, who just completed her freshman campaign with the Horned Frogs, received the wild card bid into the main draw. The Austin, Texas, native finished with a 23-14 overall record while playing at the three line for the Frogs. Lopez and Morgado were selected to receive the wild card bid into the doubles main draw. They will be making their debut as a pair as they did not compete together last season. The classic, which is a USTA Pro Circuit event, will take place on June 12-19 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The qualifying rounds will be played on the June 12-13, while the main draw competition will take place on June 14-19. The semifinals and finals will begin at noon on both Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19.
