Aburto Set for NCAA Singles Championship
May 23, 2004 ATHENS, Ga. - TCU senior Paty Aburto will meet Shadisha Robinson of Georgia in the first round of the NCAA singles championship on Monday, May 24, it was announced on Sunday. The match, being played at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., will begin at 10:30 a.m. CDT and live scoring updates may be found on the web at www.georgiadogs.com. This is the second meeting of the season between the 59th-ranked Aburto and 32nd-ranked Robinson as the pair matched up when the Frogs traveled to then-No. 2 Georgia in late February for a dual match. Robinson claimed the first meeting, 6-2, 6-4.
Aburto is the first TCU women's tennis player to compete in the singles championship since 1988 when Rene Simpson earned a spot and went on to earn All-America honors.
