FORT WORTH, Texas - The 25th-ranked TCU women's tennis team (17-7, 3-2 C-USA) was awarded an at-large bid to the 2004 NCAA Women's Tennis Regionals on Wednesday afternoon. The Horned Frogs will meet No. 42 SMU in College Station in the first round, with the winner moving on to meet the victor of the match between 13th-ranked Texas A&M and Southern. Dates and times are yet to be announced. The winner from the Texas A&M regional will advance to Athens, Ga. for the NCAA Championships, May 20-29. Singles and doubles team selections for the Championships will be announced on Thursday on the NCAA's website at www.ncaa.com.
The Frogs met local-foe SMU earlier this season, defeating the Mustangs, 4-3, in Fort Worth. TCU finished the regular season on a 15-match winning streak before falling to then-No. 11 Tulane, 1-4, in Louisville, Ky. at the Conference USA Championship. This is the first NCAA appearance for the Frogs under head coach Dave Borelli, and the seventh in school history, the last coming in 2002.
