FORT WORTH – The TCU women’s tennis team plays its final two road matches of the regular season Friday and Sunday when it travels to Oklahoma State and Oklahoma, respectively.
The No. 32-ranked Horned Frogs are 16-2 overall and 5-0 in Big 12 play. TCU is tied at the top of the league standings with Texas Tech, who is also 5-0. The Cowgirls are ranked 33rd and are 12-5, 4-2. No. 36 Oklahoma is 12-6, 4-2 and faces Baylor on Friday.
First serve for Friday’s match is set for 3 p.m. from Oklahoma State’s Colvin Center tennis courts. Sunday’s match will begin at 12 p.m. at the Headington Tennis Center in Norman. Dating back to last season, TCU has won 12-straight conference matches.
TCU is 19-12 all-time against Oklahoma and has won five of its last six matchups with the Sooners, including last year’s 4-3 win in Norman. Against the Cowgirls, the Frogs are 9-5 and won the last meeting, 4-0, in 2004.
Stefanie Tan is ranked 43rd in the ITA singles rankings and has a 13-4 record this spring, including a 4-1 mark in Big 12 action. Olivia Smith checks in at No. 107 with an 11-4, 3-2 spring ledger. Monika Sirilova and Simona Parajova are both 5-0 in conference matches.
In doubles, Smith and Millie Nichols make up the nation’s No. 52-ranked tandem and have an 8-4 record. Gabi Barbosa and Sirilova, who have joined at No. 3 for TCU in conference play, are 3-0 against Big 12 foes.
For Oklahoma State, Malika Rose is ranked 72nd in the ITA singles rankings, while Hermon Brhane is 69th for the Sooners. OU has two ranked doubles teams in Brhane and Whitney Ritchie (No. 20), along with Emma Devine and Mia Lancaster (No. 82). Rose and Kanyapat Narattana are No. 37 for the Cowgirls.
