Tweedie-Yates Named C-USA Women's Tennis Player of the Week
April 5, 2005 Dallas, Texas - TCU women's tennis player Story Tweedie-Yates was honored today for the third time this spring as the Conference USA Women's Tennis Player of the Week. The senior earned the accolade after she extended her winning streaks to 11 matches in singles and nine consecutive matches in doubles as she went 4-0 last week to help the Frogs improve to 16-2 this season. In singles, Tweedie-Yates won both of her matches in straight sets. Against Conference USA and in-state rival Houston, Tweedie-Yates made quick work of Biljana Dimovska, winning 6-1, 6-2, to help the Horned Frogs defeat the Cougars, 5-2. A day later, the Redmond, Wash., native defeated her 12th ranked opponent this season when she topped then-No. 78 Ana Rupic of South Alabama, 6-3, 6-1. Overall in singles, Tweedie-Yates is 27-4 this season. In doubles, while teaming with sophomore Ana Cetnik, the pair improved to 15-1 this season after posting two easy victories. Against UH, the duo dominated Yolandi Terblanche and Dimovska, 8-1. On April 3, the then-No. 35-ranked pair won their ninth straight match as they topped Andrea Kurekova and Klara Jarova, 8-3, to help the Frogs defeat then-No. 29 South Alabama, 6-1. The No. 17 Frogs will return to action on Friday, April 8 when they host No. 44 Rice beginning at 2 p.m.
