Women's tennis prepares to host San Diego State, UNLV
March 30, 2007 FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 41 TCU women's tennis team will play host to conference opponents, No. 74 San Diego State and No. 56 UNLV, this weekend at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Frogs will meet the Aztecs on Saturday at 10 a.m., and the Rebels on Sunday at 10 a.m. In the Frogs' (10-7) current three-match winning streak, they have outscored their opponents by a mark of 18-3. San Diego State (9-8) is currently in the midst of a four-match winning streak, most recently defeating Colorado State, 5-2. UNLV is 13-4 overall on the season, and fell 5-2 to No. 1 Stanford on Wednesday.
Three Frogs are currently ranked in singles play, as Ana Cetnik tops the list at No. 41, followed by Anna Sydorska at No. 54 and Nina Munch-Soegaard at No. 84. The duo of Cetnik and Sydorska is also ranked No. 6 nationally.
Junior Kewa Nichols has reeled off five consecutive singles victories for TCU, while Munch-Soegaard, a freshman from Amarillo, Texas, currently leads the Frogs with 14 wins.
UNLV will feature the No. 35 tandem in the nation in Elena Gantcheva and Kristina Nedeltcheva.
TCU has only met San Diego State twice in the overall series, with each team holding a victory. The last meeting came a year ago, as the Frogs triumphed 7-0. UNLV currently holds a 2-1 advantage all-time over TCU. The Frogs took a 5-2 decision over the Rebels last season.
New Mexico, UNLV and San Diego State will also be playing additional matches this weekend on campus. The complete weekend schedule is provided below.
