Women's Tennis Concludes Homestand
March 24, 2004 FORT WORTH, Texas - Complete Release in PDF Format The 27th-ranked Horned Frogs conclude a 10-match homestand this week as No. 69 Cal Poly and Middle Tennessee State come to Fort Worth on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. The Frogs then head to Houston for a pair of weekend road matches against No. 63 Rice and Conference USA opponent Houston on Saturday and Sunday. The Mustangs, currently 10-6, are in the metroplex for a pair of matches. TCU won the first and only previous meeting between the schools, 9-0, on January 27, 2000 in Fort Worth. The Horned Frogs also hold a 1-0 series lead against the Blue Raiders, claiming a 5-2 victory on January 26, 2002 at the Friedman Tennis Center. MTSU has posted a 9-5 record this season. The Frogs lead the series with the Owls, 19-11. The two teams last met on April 5, 2003 in Fort Worth, where TCU won the match, 5-2. The Cougars are the second C-USA opponent TCU has taken on in 2004. TCU has a commanding 25-7 series lead over UH, winning the last match, 6-1, on February 1, 2003 at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth. The ITA's first computer rankings were relased on Tuesday, March 23. The Frogs' difficult schedule is paying off as the squad leapt from No. 40 in last week's poll to No. 27 this week. TCU began the season at No. 58.
Senior Paty Aburto is still ranked in the individual poll at No. 47. The Frogs' No. 1 doubles team, senior Saber Pierce and freshman Ana Cetnik, continue to move up in the rankings, coming in this week at No. 24. The tandem has lost only one match since being ranked in the February 24 poll.
