FORT WORTH – TCU women’s tennis puts an all-time undefeated ledger on the line Wednesday with a visit from UT-Arlington to the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m.
No. 49-ranked TCU (4-3) is coming off a 6-1 defeat by No. 23 Texas A&M on Monday, while UTA is 3-3 and played a match against Nicholls State on Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday’s match is the first for the Mavericks against an in-state foe. TCU is 2-3 against opponents from the Lone Star State.
The Horned Frogs lead the all-time series with its rival to the east, 14-0. Included in that total is a 5-2 win at UTA last season. In the last meeting between the two schools in Fort Worth, the Frogs were 5-2 winners in 2007.
Senior Gaby Mastromarino is 4-2 this spring from her singles position, having played the Nos. 4 through 6 positions thus far. Mastromarino has shined in doubles as well since being added to the rotation, as she and freshman Simona Parajova are 3-0.
Federica Denti, who returned to the lineup Monday after missing the last two matches due to injury, is 4-1 this spring in singles, including notching TCU’s lone point against A&M. Olivia Smith has settled into the No. 1 role for the Frogs in singles and is 3-2.
Wednesday’s match is the second of four straight at the Friedman Tennis Center for TCU. The Frogs are 3-2 on their home courts this spring and host Princeton on Saturday to continue the home stand.
