TCU women's tennis prepares for Oklahoma on Thursday
Feb. 28, 2007 NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 26 TCU women's tennis team will travel to Norman, Okla., to face the Sooners of Oklahoma at the Headington Family Tennis Center on Thursday at 1 p.m. The Frogs are currently 4-4 overall, while Oklahoma has a record of 2-3.
Both teams are coming off losses, as the Frogs fell to No. 14 Baylor 5-2 on Tuesday night, and the Sooners were defeated 4-3 by No. 60 Alabama last Saturday.
Sophomore Anna Sydorska, ranked No. 88 in singles, has highlighted play for TCU as of late, reeling off six consecutive victories for a 6-2 record. TCU also features the No. 23 and No. 60 singles players in the nation with Ana Cetnik and Nina Munch-Soegaard, respectively.
In doubles, the duo of Kewa Nichols and Munch-Soegaard has compiled a record of 6-2, while the team of Cetnik and Sydorska are currently ranked third in the country.
The series between TCU and Oklahoma dates back to 1977, with the Frogs holding a 16-11 advantage. The two teams met a year ago in Fort Worth, as TCU won the meeting 7-0. The No. 8 doubles tandem of Helena Besovic and Anna Sydorska won the doubles point, and Karine Ionesco won in the No. 6 slot to clinch the match.
