FORT WORTH – TCU’s women’s tennis team returns to action this weekend when Pepperdine and Vanderbilt visit the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
First serve against No. 46-ranked Pepperdine is set for 12 p.m., while the Horned Frogs and No. 17 Vanderbilt will square off at 11 a.m. TCU is 3-1 on the year with its only loss coming to ninth-ranked Alabama. The Green Wave are 0-4, while the Commodores are 4-3 and face Baylor on Saturday.
No. 34-ranked TCU is 3-3 all-time against Pepperdine, with the last meeting coming in 2009. That was a 5-2 win at Pepperdine. The Frogs and Vanderbilt have met four times with each squad claiming two wins. The last meeting was a 4-3 Commodore decision in 2010.
Two Frogs, sophomores Stefanie Tan and Simona Parajova, made appearances in the recent ITA singles rankings. Tan, 2-1 this spring, is ranked 50th, while the 3-1 Parajova checked in at No. 115. TCU is a combined 9-1 in its doubles matches this spring and has won the point in all four.
Pepperdine boasts the nation’s No. 43- and No. 124-ranked singles players in Khunpak Isaara and Ale Granillo, respectively. Issara and Lorraine Guillermo are the No. 8 doubles tandem in the ITA doubles rankings.
Three Commodores are ranked among the nation’s top 112 with Lauren Mira leading the way at No. 38. Mira and Courtney Colton are ranked 28th in the ITA doubles rankings.
Saturday’s match will be played at the indoor facility, while Sunday’s match is tentatively scheduled to be played outdoors. Free pizza from Buffalo Bros. will be available for all fans in attendance.
