Frogs Fall to Aggies, 4-3, in Women's Tennis
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (February 13, 2001)- The TCU women's tennis team lost
to undefeated Texas A&M, 4-3, Tuesday. The 34th-ranked Frogs drop to 1-2
while the 36th-ranked Aggies move to 4-0.
Uncertain weather conditions caused the match to start with singles play. The two teams split in singles competition with TCU taking wins at Nos. 1, 3 and 5, and Texas A&M winning at Nos. 2, 4 and 6. Junior Katrin Gaber defeated A&M's Jessica Roland, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 1 position. In a three-hour match, sophomore Rosa Perez fell to Olivia Karlikova, 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2. Texas A&M won the doubles point when the team of Ashley Hedberg and Jessica Roland defeated Katrin Gaber and Karolina Roubickova, 8-3, at No. 2, and Leah Killen and Eva Marcial beat Paty Aburto and Brenna Shackelford, 8-5, at No. 3. TCU opens its WAC season on Saturday, Feb. 17, when they host UTEP at 11 a.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
