No. 16 TCU women's tennis suffers 6-1 defeat to No. 10 North Carolina
Feb. 4, 2006 MADISON, Wis. - The No. 16 ranked TCU women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 defeat to No. 10 North Carolina in the quarterfinal playoff of the ITA National Indoor Championships. The Frogs fell to 2-2 on the season while the Tar Heels improved to 7-1. North Carolina used a sweep in doubles competition to claim a one-point advantage before heading into singles play. The No. 40 doubles tandem of Helena Besovic and Anna Sydorska fell 8-3 UNC's No. 11 ranked team of Sarah Anundsen and Jenna Long at No. 1. Sydorska was able to get back on track during singles and knot the match at one, downing Caitlin Collins 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2. The Tar Heels went on to win the next five singles matches to bump the Frogs from the tournament. Long continued to give the Frogs problems, ousting Besovic 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 at No. 1 to clinch the match. TCU returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 11, when it hosts No. 73 Tulsa at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. Match time is slated for a noon start.
