FORT WORTH – TCU’s women’s tennis team returns to action this weekend with matches Saturday and Sunday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

The Horned Frogs play host to Texas State on Saturday for a 1 p.m., matchup inside the indoor facility of the Friedman Tennis Center. Lamar visits the Bartzen Varsity Courts on Sunday with first serve set for noon.

TCU is 1-0 this season and ranked No. 47 in this week’s Campbell’s/ITA College Tennis Rankings. The Frogs opened the year with a 6-1 win over Syracuse on Jan. 21. Texas State has yet to play a match this season, while Lamar is 0-2.

In the all-time ledger, TCU is 6-0 against Texas State and 6-0 against Lamar, including a 5-2 win over the Cardinals last season in Fort Worth. Texas State is coached by former TCU All-American and Letterwinner’s Hall of Famer Tory Plunkett.

In doubles, Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith lead the Frogs as the No. 31-ranked duo in the nation and top-ranked tandem in the state of Texas. They are 1-0 this spring and 9-3 overall as doubles partners.

Federica Denti and Kelsey Sundaram are ranked No. 57 in doubles and also hold a 1-0 mark this spring. Simona Parajova and Stefanie Tan, TCU’s No. 3 duo, are 1-0 as well.

For singles play, TCU holds a 5-1 mark after its first match of the season, with four of those five wins coming via straight sets. Smith, ranked No. 114 in the nation, was most impressive for TCU in the debut with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 2 position.
