FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's tennis team opens its 2006 season Saturday by hosting North Texas at 1:30 p.m. CST. The Horned Frogs and Mean Green will play on the indoor courts at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

TCU owns a 30-0 all-time record against North Texas and claimed a 7-0 decision over the Mean Green in February last year.

The Horned Frogs are currently ranked 14th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, tying a school record that was initially set in April 1982 and later equaled in February 2005. TCU also has four Frogs ranked among the top 50 in singles, also a school record.

Headlining the individuals is sophomore All-American Nicole Leimbach at the No. 5 position. Leimbach put together a 6-1 record during the fall and became the Horned Frogs' first grand slam winner when she took home the Riviera/ITA All-American Championship singles title in October.

Senior Helena Besovic is next in line at No. 22. She recorded a 7-4 fall slate, reaching the semifinals of the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional Championships. Besovic also posted a pair of victories in the consolation draw at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships.

Freshman Anna Sydorska comes in with a No. 30 rating after going 5-2 in her first semester at TCU. She won the consolation draw at the Cal Invitational and reached the round of 16 at the ITA Regional after knocking off Texas' Petra Dizdar, who was ranked in the top 20 during the fall.

Junior and 2005 doubles All-American Ana Cetnik has a No. 43 ranking despite playing a limited fall schedule because of injuries. Her lone singles action came at the regional, where she reached the quarterfinals and knocked off Jenny Kuehn from Tulane. Kuehn was ranked 33rd in the fall.

The doubles tandem of Besovic and Sydorska was ranked 40th thanks to a 7-1 record. They won the ITA Southwest Regional, becoming the first TCU duo in school history to do so. With their regional victory, Besovic and Sydorska earned an automatic bid to the national indoors and became the first TCU team to win a main-draw match at the event.
