FLUSHING, N.Y. – TCU’s women’s tennis team saw the fall portion of its schedule come to a close Saturday morning at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships inside the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Horned Frog duo Millie Nichols and Olivia Smith dropped a tough 9-7 decision to UCLA’s Robin Anderson and Skylar Morton. Nichols and Smith had an early lead before running out of gas in the match.

“We played really well for the first half of the match,” TCU assistant coach Jason Marshall said. “But the UCLA team was very good. We’re thrilled with our performance this fall.”

For the fall, Nichols and Smith tallied an 8-3 mark as doubles partners. They won the USTA/ITA Texas Regional Championship, becoming the first TCU duo to do so since Ana Cetnik and Anna Sydorska were victorious in 2006.

Additionally, TCU’s Federica Denti and Kelsey Sundaram claimed the doubles draw at the HEB Baylor Invitational on Oct. 16. As a team, TCU went 21-11 in all doubles matches during the fall season.

The Frogs open the spring dual season Jan. 21 when Syracuse visits the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
