SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Maria Babanova, a freshman on the TCU women's tennis team, defeated Rebecca Kwan of UC-Irvine by a score of 7-6(1), 3-6, 6-3 to claim the Flight No. 3 singles championship at the SDSU Fall Classic No. 2 on Sunday.

Fellow freshman Idunn Hertzberg also competed in the Flight No. 1 singles championship on Sunday, falling short to San Diego State's Holly Bagshaw by a score of 6-3, 7-5.

The TCU netters earned another championship on Sunday, as Babanova and Hertzberg defeated UC-Irvine's Bartlett and Borowicz 9-7 to take the Flight No. 2 doubles consolation title.

With Babnova's win on Sunday, the TCU women's tennis team earned its second singles main draw championship of the fall season. Nina Munch-Soegaard won five matches to claim the title at The Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational in Midland, Texas, in October.

The women's tennis team has now completed the fall season and will return to action on Feb. 9, 2008 at Texas.
