TCU women's tennis senior Saber Pierce recorded one of the largest upsets of the ITA Southwest Regional Championships Saturday by downing No. 4-seeded Kendra Strohm of Texas in the round of 32. Pierce claimed the first set, 6-4, was dropped in the second by the same score and then blanked the nation's No. 38-rated player, 6-0, in the third for the victory. Pierce will face Texas Tech's Maria Ivanov in the round of 16 tomorrow.
Jennifer Chay also advanced to the round of 16 in the main draw of the singles, posting a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Texas A&M's Lauren Walker. She faces Lauren Archer of Rice in the next round.
