WACO, Texas – TCU juniors Federica Denti and Kelsey Sundaram claimed the doubles title Sunday at the HEB Baylor Invitational in Waco, Texas.
Fourth-seeded Denti and Sundaram rolled through the doubles draw, knocking off Baylor’s Nicole Kosakowski and Jordaan Sanford, 8-2, in the championship finals.
“Any time you can beat two teams from Baylor it’s a great achievement,” TCU coach Dave Borelli said. “I felt going into the year we’d be really strong in doubles and this shows that.”
The Frog duo also dropped Megan Hortor and Diana Nakic of Baylor, 8-5, in the championship quarterfinals. Denti and Sundaram’s other wins in the tournament came over Maria Martinez and Nikola Matovicova of UTA in the Round of 16 and Texas A&M’s Sheri Olivier and Lauren Santocroce in the semifinals.
“We’ve got great doubles players,” Borelli said. “I feel like we can compete with anyone in the country when in doubles. I’m really proud of them after this weekend.”
