TCU enjoys successful day two at Cal Invitational

BERKELEY, Calif. -- The TCU women's tennis team won six out of seven matches Saturday at the Cal Invitational in Berkeley, Calif. Gloriann Lopez continued her run in the Blue Singles Flight, reaching the semifinals with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Bojana Bobusic of California in the quarters.
Lopez and Andrea Morgado narrowly missed beating the No. 3-ranked doubles team in the country in the Gold Doubles Flight quarterfinals. The duo was up 7-6 over New Mexico's Iva Gersic and Maja Kovacek before losing 9-7.
Anna Sydorska posted another victory in the consolation quarters of the Gold Singles thanks to a 6-1, 6-4 triumph versus Ola Abou-Zekry of New Mexico. Lindsay McBride was a 6-1, 6-0 winner in her match with Stefanie Ordoveza from Saint Mary's (Calif.) in the Blue Singles consolation quarterfinals. In an extra consolation match, Morgado upended New Mexico's Nora Quintal, 6-1, 6-1.
McBride and Sydorska teamed up for a couple wins in the Blue Doubles consolation draw to reach the final. Stephanie Galainena and Kelly Leathers from Santa Clara were the first to fall, 8-2, followed by Saint Mary's (Calif.)'s Kate Harden and Kristen Kummer by an 8-5 count.
