DENTON, Texas -- The TCU women's tennis team completed its first day of play at the North Texas Invitational on Friday in Denton, Texas.
Gabby Lopez posted a victory in the first rounds of singles and doubles play before falling in the ensuing matches. Lopez teamed up with
Lindsay McBride for doubles.
Lopez upended Leja Sirola of Texas State in the round of 16 in the Flight B Singles by scores of 6-4, 1-6, (10-4). In the Flight A Doubles, Lopez and McBride defeated Texas State's Ashley Ellis and Sumarie Muller, 8-6.
McBride lost her two singles matches, while Alexandra Allin and Melissa Beré both fell in their opening round matches. Allin and Beré teamed up for doubles and suffered a pair of setbacks.
Play at the North Texas Invitational continues Saturday and may finish if time permits all the matches to be played.
