Frogs Advance In Doubles Play At Rice Tennis Classic

HOUSTON, TEXAS - The TCU women's tennis team opened up play at the Hilton Houston Plaza Rice Tennis Classic on Friday morning. In doubles play, Andrea Morgado/Paige Brown and Lizzy Kenfield/Melissa Bere won their opening matches to advance on the winner's side of the bracket.
Morgado and Brown continued their winning streak as they pushed their fall record to 4-0 when they defeated Christine Dao and Tracie Chong of Rice 8-3 The pair will resume play in the Blue Doubles Draw when they face Audra Cohen and Cristelle Grier of Northwestern on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Grier is the No. 1 singles player in the nation and is also a member of the No. 9 doubles team in the ITA Fall Rankings.
Kenfield, a sophomore making her fall debut, and Bere were victorious in their opening match in the Gray Doubles Draw with an 8-2 win over Lee College's Hall and Beavers.
In singles play, Morgado fell in her opening match against No. 58 Blair DiSesa of Rice in the Blue Singles Draw. DiSesa handed the Horned Frog freshman her first career loss in Purple and White, 6-0, 6-2. Morgado, however, rebounded in her first consolation match to defeat Christine Alford of Yale 6-3, 7-6 (3).
The Frogs will return to the courts at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium on Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
