Womenn's Tennis Stops USF, 4-1, to Advance at C-USA Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Second-seeded TCU advanced to the semifinals of the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship after defeating No. 8-seed USF, 4-1, at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Friday. The 25th-ranked Horned Frogs won their 14th consecutive match and will next face the winner of the DePaul/Louisville match on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. CDT. The No. 32-ranked team of Saber Pierce and Ana Cetnik posted an 8-5 decision over Marie France Lord Andrade and Gabriela Duch at the No. 1 position. Paty Aburto and Karla Mancinas outlasted the USF tandem of Fabiana Taverna and Luisa Obando, 8-5, at No. 2 to give the Frogs a 1-0 lead. USF fired back in singles when Duch swept No. 48 Aburto, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1. However TCU held off the Bulls' run and claimed the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 spots. Cetnik swept Patricia Kolendo, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 4, while Jenn Chay notched a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Andrade at two. TCU clinched the match when Pierce nabbed a 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 decision over Taverna at No. 3. Complete results of the match can be found below.
