Women's Tennis Tops Louisville to Make C-USA Finals

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The 55th-ranked TCU women's tennis team earned its second win at the Conference USA Championship with a 4-0 semifinal victory against sixth-seed Louisville on Monday morning at the Tulane University's Goldring Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs will defend their 2002 title as they take on top-seeded and 28th-ranked Tulane on Tuesday at noon in the championship match. This is the second meeting between the two teams this season. Tulane won the first meeting, 5-2, in Fort Worth on March 7. The Frogs won the doubles point with decisive wins at one and three. Junior Paty Aburto and senior Rosa Perez, the 59th-ranked duo in the nation, handed Marie Louise Frolich-Hansen and Kelly Taylor an 8-2 loss at the first position. Sophomore Karla Mancinas paired with freshman Gloriann Lopez to defeat Paige Eber and Jasmin Singh, 8-2, at the three spot. TCU clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 victory by Perez over Taylor at No. 2. The Frogs also claimed singles victories from Lopez at the third position (6-1, 6-3 over Eber) and Mancinas at four (6-3, 6-1 against Melisa San Martin). All three of the other singles matches were left unfinished per conference championship protocol.
