TCU women's tennis routs No. 74 San Diego State, 6-1

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 41 TCU women's tennis team defeated No. 74 San Diego State 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The win was TCU's fourth consecutive victory, and improved the Frogs to 11-7 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while dropping the Aztecs to 9-9 on the season.
"San Diego State is a very solid team, and we were able to keep our focus and close out matches," said TCU head coach Jefferson Hammond. "We had a strong effort today, and I'm really looking forward to honoring our seniors tomorrow. It will be a very special day for everyone that has known them since they've been here."
The doubles tandem of Ana Cetnik and Kewa Nichols evened the doubles score at 1-1 with an 8-4 victory over San Diego State's Eliska Krausova and Alesya Vidov at the No. 1 position. With the match tied at 5-5, the duo of Anna Sydorska and Andrea Morgado won three straight games to clinch the doubles point for TCU in an 8-5 victory over Sisse Nielsen and Holly Bagshaw.
For the fourth consecutive match, the Frogs won at singles Nos. 1-5. No. 54 Sydorska led off with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Krausova at the No. 1 slot. No. 84 Nina Munch-Soegaard quickly followed in a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Vidov to put TCU up 3-1. Kewa Nichols clinched the match for the Frogs as the junior defeated Esther Cadua, 7-6(4), 6-2. The victory was Nichols' sixth consecutive win at No. 4 singles.
No. 41 Cetnik and Morgado would go on to win their matches at the No. 3 and No. 5 slots, respectively. Cetnik defeated Bagshaw 6-3, 6-7(4), 10-6, while Morgado triumphed over Milana Yusupov, 7-6(9), 6-3.
The Frogs will return to the courts on Sunday at 10 a.m. as they will play host to No. 56 UNLV. The TCU seniors will be honored at the match. Live stats will be provided at www.gofrogs.com.
