Women's Tennis Wins at No. 63 Rice, 6-1

HOUSTON, Texas - The 27th-ranked TCU women's tennis team won its tenth match in a row as the Frogs handily defeated 63rd-ranked Rice, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Jake Hess Tennis Center in Houston. The win gives TCU an overall record of 12-6, 0-1 C-USA. The Frogs swept doubles action for the sixth time this season, and the second time in the last three matches. TCU's No. 1 tandem of senior Saber Pierce and freshman Ana Cetnik defeated Blair DiSesa and Lauren Archer, 8-3, while senior Paty Aburto and junior Karla Mancinas topped Tracie Chong and Karen Chao, 8-4, at No. 2. The three doubles team of junior Paige Brown and sophomore Gloriann Lopez earned a 9-7 victory against Yasmin Fisher and Annie Goodrich. All five of the Frogs' singles wins came in straight sets during the afternoon's match. Aburto won the first-set tiebreaker before shutting down DiSesa at No. 1 (7-6(5), 6-1). Earning her 14th win of the spring, Pierce defeated Chong, 6-4, 6-3, at the third spot. Cetnik, playing No. 4, won her eighth match in a row with her 6-0, 6-3 victory against Fisher. At five singles, Lopez topped Goodrich, 6-3, 7-5, while Mancinas made quick work of Erika Villalobos at No. 6 (6-0, 6-1). Complete results of the match can be found below. The Frogs finish their stay in Houston on Sunday, March 28 as they meet Conference USA-foe Houston at noon. The final home match for the Frogs is Tuesday, April 6 as TCU hosts South Alabama at 2:00 p.m. on the Bernard "Tut" Bartzen Varsity Courts.
