Women's Tennis Tops Texas-Arlington, 6-1

FORT WORTH, Texas - The 51st-ranked TCU women's tennis team handily defeated metroplex rival Texas-Arlington, 6-1, on Wednesday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Frogs' spring record goes to 7-6 with the win, while the Mavericks fall to 7-5.
TCU swept the doubles point with wins at nos. 1 and 2. The 51st-ranked doubles tandem of Paty Aburto and Rosa Perez defeated Annemarie Lenze and Anete Rozkalne, 8-1, at no. 1, while Saber Pierce and Karla Mancinas topped Ella Goldshuv/Jitka Vetrocova, 8-3, at the second spot. The third doubles match was not played as UTA did not have enough players.
On the singles side of things, the Frogs captured wins at the second through fifth positions. TCU earned the point at no. 6 with the default by the Mavericks. Perez earned a 6-3, 6-0 win at no. 2 over Rozkalne, while Pierce picked up the 6-3, 6-0 victory over Goldshuv at no. 3. Gloriann Lopez won a 6-3, 4-6, 11-9 tiebreaker to capture the win at the fourth spot against Vetrocova. Mancinas defeated Gretel Hach, 6-2, 6-2, at no. 5 for the other Frog singles win.
The Frogs head back out on the road this weekend as they take on Tulsa, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma beginning on Friday, March 28. Their next home contests come on April 4 and 5 when they host South Alabama and Rice to close out the home season.
