Women's Tennis Falls 4-3 To Marshall

FORT WORTH, Texas - The 59th-ranked TCU women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 match to Marshall on Saturday afternoon at the indoor courts of the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The loss evens TCU's record at 6-6, and moves Marshall to 6-6 as well. Marshall earned the doubles point with wins at nos. 2 and 3. The no. 1 TCU doubles tandem of junior Paty Aburto and senior Rosa Perez topped Jessica Johnson and Alice Sukner, 8-3, to earn the only Frog doubles win of the day. The two teams split the singles points, with TCU winning the top three positions and Marshall winning at nos. 4 through 6. Aburto won her fourth straight singles match by defeating Jessica Johnson, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 at no. 1. At the second singles position, junior Saber Pierce topped Alice Sukner, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2. Perez picked up her seventh consecutive singles win of the spring, defeating Danielle Hock, 6-7, 7-6, 6-1 at no. 3. Next Wednesday, UT-Arlington comes to Fort Worth for a makeup match beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
