Women's Tennis Shuts Out Buckeyes, 7-0

FORT WORTH, Texas - The 40th-ranked TCU women's tennis team blanked the No. 42 Ohio State Buckeyes, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The shut out is the first of the season for TCU. The victory moves the Frogs' overall record to 8-6, with a current six-match winning streak. Ohio State falls to an even 6-6 mark with the loss.
TCU won two of three doubles matches to start the afternoon's action. TCU's No. 3 tandem of junior Paige Brown and sophomore Gloriann Lopez started things with their defeat of Lindsey Adams and Meredith Vincent, 8-2. Then at No. 1, senior Saber Pierce and freshman Ana Cetnik topped Erica Fisk and Jackie Leskovar, 8-4, to clinch the point.
The Frogs swept the singles action, winning all but No. 3 in straight sets. Senior Paty Aburto, ranked 39th, beat No. 57 Lindsay Williams, 6-4, 6-1, at one singles, while freshman Jenn Chay took care of Emily DeCamilla at No. 2 (7-5, 6-1). Pierce, playing three singles, fought back from a second-set loss to defeat Fisk, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, for the lone three-set win of the match. At No. 4, Cetnik claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win over Leskovar, and Mancinas picked up a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Adams at five singles. Lopez used a pair of 6-2 sets to defeat Kristin Messmer at No. 6.

The Frogs host a 69th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Sunday, March 21. Match time is scheduled for noon and will be played on the Bernard "Tut" Bartzen Varsity Courts. Next week's match against Cal Poly on Wednesday, March 24 has been moved to a noon start, and the Middle Tennessee State match has been moved to Thursday, March 25 at 2:00 p.m.
