Final Stats

FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 37 TCU women's tennis team fell 4-3 to No. 39 South Florida on Wednesday at the Wathen Tennis Center in Fresno, Calif. The loss snapped TCU's three-match winning streak, dropping the Frogs to 7-5, while improving the Bulls to 8-3 overall.

"We fought hard today, and the match could have gone either way," said TCU assistant coach Colin Foster. "We'll look to regroup quickly and come out ready to fight against another quality opponent tomorrow."

The Frogs started play at a disadvantage, as they were a player down, forcing TCU to forfeit matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

The women still managed to come away with the doubles point, as the duo of Nina Munch-Soegaard and Kewa Nichols defeated Jessica Sweeding and Courtney Vernon, 8-3. The No. 7 tandem of Ana Cetnik and Anna Sydorska rolled to an 8-2 victory over No. 26 Gabriela Duch and Shadisha Robinson to clinch the match's first point.

The Bulls won the first three singles matches at No. 6, No. 5 and No. 4 to put the Frogs down 3-1, before No. 84 Munch-Soegaard defeated Sweeding, 6-3, 7-6(8-6). No. 104 Sydorska notched her tenth consecutive victory against No. 18 Shadisha Robinson, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, to knot the match up at three. No. 71 Vernon knocked off No. 37 Cetnik at the No. 2 position by a score of 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-0 to clinch the match for the Bulls.

The women will return to the courts on Thursday at 8 p.m. (CST) when they will face No. 14 Fresno State. Complete results will be available at www.gofrogs.com.
