Women's Tennis Wins 6-1 Match Against North Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 45 TCU women's tennis team evened its season record at 6-6 with a 6-1 victory over North Texas on Thursday afternoon on the Bernard "Tut" Bartzen Varsity Courts at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. UNT goes to 10-6 with the loss to the Horned Frogs. For the second day in a row, TCU swept doubles play. The 33rd-ranked tandem of senior Saber Pierce and freshman Ana Cetnik topped Krysta Lee and Katherine Harris by an 8-2 count, while senior Paty Aburto and junior Karla Mancinas won an 8-4 match against Kelli Royer and Ashley Sammis at No. 2. TCU's three doubles pair, junior Paige Brown and sophomore Gloriann Lopez, defeated Holly Lee and Megan Schmulbach, 8-2. All six singles matches were decided in straight sets, with the Frogs taking five of six. Aburto, ranked No. 39 by the ITA, handled Krysta Lee with ease (6-4, 6-2) at No. 1, while Pierce toppled Sammis, 6-1, 6-4 at the third spot. At No. 4, Cetnik claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Schmulbach. Lopez won a pair of 6-2 sets en route to a win against Harris at five singles, while Mancinas took care of Ingrid Stockinger at No. 6 (6-4, 6-3). Complete results of the match can be found below. The Frogs are off until next Thursday, March 18 when No. 24 Indiana visits Fort Worth for a 2:00 p.m. match on the Bernard "Tut" Bartzen Varsity Courts at the Tennis Center.
