No. 26 TCU blanks Oklahoma, 7-0

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 26 TCU women's tennis team posted a 7-0 victory over Oklahoma Wednesday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. Sophomore Kewa Nichols posted a win in singles and doubles play. TCU swept the doubles competiton to take a 1-0 advantage. Nichols and sophomore Andrea Morgado teamed to take an 8-2 victory over Monica Purice and Anne Carter. The No. 8 ranked tandem of Helena Besovic and Anna Sydorska clinched the doubles point for the Frogs with an 8-5 triumph over Gabby Baker and Rachel Orr. Juniors Karine Ionesco and Ana Cetnik recorded an 8-7(6) victory to complete the doubles sweep. Besovic recorded the first singles win for the Horned Frogs as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Purice. Hailing from Sarajevo, Bosnia, Besovic holds the No. 31 singles ranking and a 6-3 record. Nichols excelled at court No. 4 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Chelsea Orr to improve to 6-3 on the season in singles play. Sophomore Nicole Leimbach saw her first action of the day in singles play and prevailed with a 6-1, 6-2 tally over Baker. Ionesco stretched the margin to 6-0 in favor of the Horned Frogs with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Brittany Baldy and senior Gloriann Lopez finished off the afternoon's match with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-2 victory at No. 5 versus Christi Baxley. With the win, TCU improved to 6-3 on the season. The Frogs returns to action on Wednesday, March 15, when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., to take on Virginia. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
