HOUSTON, Texas - The No. 26 TCU women's tennis team put together another impressive outing with a 6-1 defeat of No. 70 Rice on Saturday at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium. The win boosts TCU's record to 6-4 overall, while dropping Rice to 3-9.

"We came out today out fought really hard," said TCU head coach Jefferson Hammond. "When we got up in matches, we stayed aggressive and had really positive body language. It was a great day for us."

The women kicked off the match with a sweep of the doubles event. Kewa Nichols and Karine Ionesco teamed up for the first time this season to defeat Rice's Christine Dao and Jennifer Pan 8-2 from the No. 3 slot. Andrea Morgado and Nina Munch-Soegaard also saw their first action together this season as the duo clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 victory over Rebecca Lin and Dominique Karas. The No. 3 tandem of Anna Sydorska and Ana Cetnik completed the sweep as they downed Julie Chao and Tiffany Lee 8-4.

The Frogs reeled off three consecutive singles victories to win the match for TCU. No. 60 Munch-Soegaard led off with a 6-3, 6-1 defeat of Lee. No. 88 Sydorska followed to notch a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Chao. The win was Sydorska's eighth consecutive in singles play. Ionesco won the match point for TCU as the senior defeated Emily Braid in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

No. 23 Cetnik put TCU up 5-1 after a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Dao in the No. 2 slot, while Nichols wrapped up the match with a 6-3, 7-6(3) defeat of Karas. With the victory, Nichols snapped Karas' undefeated 4-0 mark while playing in the No. 4 spot.
