Women's Tennis Wins 4-0 Match Against UCF

FORT WORTH, Texas - The 33rd-ranked TCU women's tennis team earned its third-straight win as the squad posted a 4-0 victory over the Golden Knights of UCF on Saturday afternoon. Due to inclement weather, the match was played indoors. TCU moves to 9-3, 1-0 C-USA for the season, while UCF's record goes to 6-3.
The Frogs captured the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 2. Paty Aburto and Rosa Perez, ranked 24th and playing No. 1, dispatched Julie Pecastaing and Anna Westin by a score of 8-3. The 48th-ranked duo of Saber Pierce and Leoni Weirich topped Marieke Gunawan and Emmanuelle Sauze at two doubles, 8-5. The No. 3 match between TCU's Katrin Gaber and Karla Mancinas and UCF's Kristina Lohmos and Amira Samara was suspended after TCU won the doubles point with its win at No. 2.
TCU earned its other three points with wins at Nos. 1, 3 and 5 singles. 89th-ranked Paty Aburto defeated Emmanuelle Sauze at one singles, 6-1, 6-4. At No. 3 singles, 108th-ranked Saber Pierce continued her straight-set winning streak as she picked up her seventh consecutive with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Marieke Gunawan. Rosa Perez, playing No. 5, earned TCU the all-important fourth point with her 6-3, 6-4 victory against Kristina Lohmos. The Nos. 2, 4 and 6 matches were all suspended following Perez's win.
TCU's match versus No. 23 Oklahoma State, scheduled for Sunday, March 3, has been postponed due to the weather. A make-up date will be announced at a later date. The Frogs will travel to New Orleans next weekend to take on conference foe 61st-ranked Tulane on Saturday, March 9 at 2:00 p.m.
