TCU Drops Close Match to Oklahoma

Fort Worth, Texas - The 22nd-ranked TCU women's tennis team fell Thursday afternoon to the No. 61 Oklahoma Sooners, 4-3 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs move to 6-3 on the season, while OU advances their undefeated season to 6-0.
TCU was unable to capture the doubles point as the squad picked up their only win at the No. 1 spot. 46th-ranked Paty Aburto and Rosa Perez earned the sole win as they handily topped Bethany Griffin and Heather Saluri, 8-3.
The Frogs picked up singles wins at Nos. 2, 3 and 6. At the second spot, No. 60 Katrin Gaber earned a hard-fought 6-2, 7-6 (9) win over Elena Jirnova. Saber Pierce continued her spring season undefeated as she topped Heather Saluri 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3. Freshman Karla Mancinas picked up the third win for the Frogs, as she defeated Jessica Braver at six singles, 6-2, 6-3.
TCU heads to Houston for the weekend, as the team will meet former WAC-rival Rice on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2:00 p.m. and new conference foe Houston on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 11:00 a.m. The squad's next home match will be on March 2 versus UCF beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
