Women's Tennis Tops Bears, 5-2

WACO, Texas - The TCU women's tennis team earned its first road win of the season with a 5-2 victory against the tough 35th-ranked Baylor Bears in Waco on Tuesday. The win moves the Frogs to 2-4, 0-1 C-USA on the season, while Baylor goes to 1-5.
The Frogs captured the doubles point with a pair of 8-2 wins by their Nos. 1 and 2 doubles teams. Senior Paty Aburto and junior Karla Mancinas upset No. 45 Daria Potapova and Steffie Balzert at two doubles, while senior Saber Pierce and freshman Ana Cetnik defeated Carolin Walter and Daniela Covello at the first spot.
In singles action, TCU swept the top four positions. Freshman Jenn Chay's three-set win (3-6, 6-1, 7-5) against Balzert at the second position clinched the match for TCU. Aburto defeated Walter in straight sets 7-6(2), 6-3 at No. 1, while Cetnik picked up a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 3 over Covello. Pierce went to three sets for the first time this season, but earned the 6-7(6), 6-2, 6-2 win over Potapova at four singles.

The Frogs finish their three-match road stretch at Georgia on Saturday, February 21. TCU starts a 10-match homestand on February 27 versus Oklahoma beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Friedman Tennis Center.
