Women's Tennis Tops No. 66 New Mexico

Lubbock, Texas - The 24th-ranked TCU women's tennis team picked up its second win of the weekend as they defeated No. 66 New Mexico, 5-2. The Frogs are now 5-2 on the season.
The Frogs picked up the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3. The 46th-ranked duo of Paty Aburto and Rosa Perez won 8-6 over Rachel Hatley and Tjasa Suvak at the No.1 spot. The Frog tandem of Katrin Gaber and Karla Mancinas earned the win at No. 3 with their defeat of Maria Ruiz-Fabrega and Regula Comtesse, 8-6. The Frogs are 5-0 when winning the doubles point this season.
TCU captured wins at four singles positions during the afternoon match. 60th-ranked Katrin Gaber defeated Sandy Lukowski, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 at No. 1, while Saber Pierce picked up the win at No. 3 over Courtney Choate, 6-2, 6-2. The Frogs also earned valuable wins from Rosa Perez at No. 5 with her straight-set win over Tiffany Robertson, 6-2,7-6, and from No. 6 Karla Mancinas who topped Rachel Hatley, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5.
In two extra matches, TCU's Ivonne Andrade earned a 7-6 (0) win over Maria Ruiz-Fabrega, and the TCU doubles team of Brenna Shackelford and Ivonne Andrade fell to Courtney Choate and Michelle Heidbrink, 8-5.
TCU concludes their weekend in Lubbock against No. 26 Florida International at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17. The squad will host Oklahoma on Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center in a 2:00 p.m. match.
