Women's Tennis Falls 4-3 to Green Wave

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The TCU women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 match to the 27th-ranked Green Wave of Tulane on Sunday afternoon. The loss puts the Frogs' overall record at 1-4 and 0-1 versus Conference USA opponents, while Tulane moves to undefeated 5-0, 1-0 C-USA marks.
Tulane swept the doubles matches to start the afternoon. Senior Saber Pierce and freshman Ana Cetnik, playing No. 1 doubles for the first time this season, pushed their match versus Nancy Kockott and Dororrya Magas into a tiebreaker before falling 9-8.
Pierce won her singles match at No. 4 in straight sets (7-6, 6-2) over Darya Ivanov to give the Frogs their first point of the match. Three of the six singles contests went the full three sets, with TCU capturing two of them. At No. 1, senior Paty Aburto upset 47th-ranked Maria Ivanov, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. It is Aburto's second win of the year over a ranked opponent (other: #79 Shana McElroy of Wisconsin at the adidas Invitational). Cetnik, playing three singles, won the Frogs' other point with her victory against Magas, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.

The Frogs continue their road contests with matches at Baylor on Tuesday, February 17 and at Georgia on Saturday, February 21. TCU's next home match is February 27 versus Oklahoma beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Friedman Tennis Center.
