Women's Tennis Falls to No. 19 Texas A&M, 4-3

Fort Worth, Texas - The 23rd-ranked TCU women's tennis team fell to No. 19 Texas A&M by a score of 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. The Frogs move to 3-1 for the season, while the Aggies go to 3-0.
The Aggies picked up the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 (8-4) and 3 (8-5). The Frog duo of senior Leoni Weirich and sophomore Saber Pierce took the win at No. 2 (8-3) over Majorie Terburgh and Leah Killen.
The Frogs were able to earn wins at the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 singles positions. Sophomore Paty Aburto, ranked 98th in the country, topped Majorie Terburgh 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot, while at No. 3 Leoni Weirich defeated Leah Killen 6-4, 6-2. Saber Pierce, playing No. 4, earned the win over Roberta Spencer 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.
In two extra matches, A&M's Danielle Lee took a 6-2, 6-3 win over TCU sophomore Emily Waters. Lee and doubles partner Robyn Bassett also defeated the TCU duo of freshman Molly Purdy and sophomore Rebecca Reynolds, 8-1.
TCU's next match will be versus No. 21 Baylor on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 2:00 p.m. The match will be played on the Bernard "Tut" Bartzen Varsity Tennis Courts at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Frogs' match at Texas-Arlington, scheduled for Feb. 7, has been moved to April 8.
